Baby Lapsit & Toddler Time

Hello loves!

Today's post is about Baby Lapsit and Toddler Time programs that might be available at your local library. Summer & I have been loving attending our local "Mommy & Me" programs since she was about 12 months old. I highly recommend checking our local library's website to see what programs might be available in your area for free. Baby Lapsit has been so fun for Summer, my husband Harrison & I to go to as a family--we try to go once a week. My husband & I have both learned so many new songs and nursery rhymes that we constantly sing and do with Summer especially now that she's a toddler and enjoys singing along. As new parents, we didn't know any nursery rhymes or lap bounces. Summer always has so much fun. She loves seeing the other babies since we don't have close friends that have babies. Baby Lapsit classes are also a great way to meet other families and connect. Neither my husband & I are very outgoing but I remember attending our first Baby Lapsit classes and immediately feeling more at ease in parenthood just being in the same room as other people were in the same boat as us. Going to the Baby Lapsit classes has made us feel more confident and less alone in parenthood. Parenthood can feel so isolating and lonely at times. I'm sure a lot of your will agree that once you have a baby, you lose a lot of your old friends because priorities change and you have way less in common with friends that don't have children. I truly believe that parenthood is all the conflicting emotions at once. Parenthood for me is love-fear-regret-frustration-compassion-vulnerability-hope-anger-sympathy-grief-courage-tenderness-protection-strength-weakness-confidence-insecurity—all of these things, at the same time. This can be so overwhelming at times. So just being around other parents with babies around the same age helps a lot. We have been to a few different libraries and finally found some classes that we love. All of the Baby Lapsit classes that we've been to are completely different, so I highly recommend trying a few different classes & libraries if you're able to until you find the one that best suits you & your baby's needs. Some classes are more social than others. In some classes you have to introduce yourself and your baby and others you can just sit & participate. Some classes have open ended play and provide toys. Personally my husband & I love the classes that incorporate musical instruments and things that we may not have at home. I love finding out things that Summer loves so I can purchase them at home and extend her learning. I would have never known about dance scarves, egg shakers, & parachutes if not for Baby Lapsit.

I hope this post is helpful and encourages you to get out of your comfort zone and hopefully find something new that both you & your baby will love. Baby Lapsit has been such a fun bonding experience for our family. It's something that we look forward to every week. Comment down below and let me know your favorite "Mommy & Me" or Baby & Parent class or activity. I'm always looking for new activities to do with Summer. Lots of love. xx
